#BlackLivesMatter Vigil
Event marketing, branding, and design
In the summer of 2020, Rutgers University–New Brunswick students, faculty, and staff were demanding space to process and honor the lives lost to police brutality. My client, the Rutgers Cultural Center Collaborative, came to me at 5 p.m. on Friday with the idea for a virtual #BlackLivesMatter Vigil.
That evening, we worked together to iron out some of the most important details and by Monday afternoon, I developed the marketing strategy, published the registration webpage, developed the visual branding and all promotional graphics, submitted the event details to university-wide media outlets, and launched our social media plan.
While our promotional period was only three days in total, it ended up being highly effective. Over 380 people participated in the event and, according to a post-event survey, 95% of the participants provided positive feedback. Afterward, I published the event recording on YouTube and produced a post-event outcomes report for the client.
